Hiruko and Mylar were taking a pleasant walk in the grassy plains. The air was cool and refreshing but Hiruko couldn't help but feel a sense of unsettling.
"What's wrong?" Mylar asked floating beside him. Hiruko had gone tense and his eyes were closed in concentration. He then opened them and stared ahead at a figure coming towards them.
"Hayashi..." Hiruko whispered under his breath. Mylar looked concerned when he saw the other Torakan who was of a slightly bigger build than Hiruko. Hayashi stopped a few metres away from them and stared Hiruko in the eye. There was a bitter silence between them all before Hiruko spoke: "What do you want, Hayashi?"
Hayashi carried no expression except a slightly furrowed brow. He seemed a lot calmer than his usual gruff and aggressive self. "It's not what I want," Hayashi replied softly. "It's what he wants." Hiruko knew exactly who Hayashi was talking about: Koatia.
"Give me the Kumorishi, Hiruko," he said less softly this time.
"He must not have it!" Mylar said to Hiruko. "We cannot give it to him." Hiruko nodded in response. "I know."
"I said give it to me!" Hayashi shouted once more, his patience wearing thin.

Mira was waddling now, the two cubs growing inside her weighing her down, evident by the bump stretching from her tummy. She was having a wander around Tialka when she saw the two Torakans. Concerned, Mira made her way as quickly as possible to Hiruko's side. "What's going on?" she asked her love, panting slightly.

It was quite a shock to see Mira out of the den, especially since the cubs were getting very big now. "Mira! What are you doing out here! You must go back to the den!" Hiruko said, fear engulfing every muscle that he had. Mira was extremely vulnerable and something told him that Hayashi could make a move at any second.
"The nasty Torakan is demanding the Kumorishi for Koatia," Mylar said fearfully, floating towards Mira and clutching at her foreleg. Since Mylar was so small, Mira towered over him. "We can't give it to him, we can't!"
Meanwhile, Hayashi has been staring at Mira the whole time, still expressionless yet there was a tone of interest in his voie when he spoke: "And it is very nice to see you again, Mira," he said flatly. His eyes never moved away from hers and Hiruko felt a twinge of jealousy grow within him.

Mira's eyes stayed on Hiruko as he spoke. "I'm not going anywhere," she replied, stubbornly. Mylar clutched at her leg like a cub, making her feel more maternal than she had been recently, and carefully pulled him closer to her protectively.
Feeling Hayashi's gaze on her neck, she turned to face him. Her blue eyes turned cold, and she snarled slightly. Though not usually a violent sort, the knowledge that Koatia wanted something that could hurt her cubs, and that Hayashi was part of it, made her even more protective. She would do anything to keep her family alive.
She said nothing to him, but let her hatred towards both him and Koatia burn into his eyes.

Hiruko feared the worse for both Mira and his unborn cubs. He had to get them away from the danger but there wasn't much they could do in Mira's condition. Hayashi's eyes were fierce and Hiruko couldn't risk his threat. "Last chance Hayashi," Hiruko said sternly to his brother. "Leave or I will have to make sure you never move again."
Hayashi said and did nothing. His eyes flicked towards Hiruko whilst he spoke but his attention was quickly dragged back to Mira. "Looks like Hiruko has already had his way with you," Hayashi said in a very flat tone, glancing quickly at her swollen belly. For a moment, there was a single tear welling in his olive eyes but it became forgotten when he looked back at his brother. "You've put your family in a vulnerable position, Hiruko," he said calmly. "How very foolish of you."
"What are you talking about?" Hiruko replied, rage burning in his chest.
"Bringing your cubs into a world of hatred and danger. Their lives will be at stake once Koatia has the Kumorishi as will yours and hers." He looked at Mira when he refered to her. "You should have thought about how vulnerable they are now that Koatia is at his full strength." Hiruko hated listening to every word but he couldn't help but feel the truth in his words. He had been reckless leaving Mira in a vulnerable state during these dark times. And worse, the cubs would be on their way soon and it hurt him to think that they could possibly be born at a time of distress.
"Well, that's why I must fight every ounce of strength to stop that," Hiruko fired back at him. He could still defend his family. "Come Mira, Mylar, we must leave."
"Not before you get the Kumorishi for me," Hayashi said gruffly. Hiruko had already started leading Mira and Mylar away but couldn't help but fear what Hayashi was going to attempt to do.

Mira was following Hiruko when she felt an unfamiliar twinge. She gasped in pain, her face cringing. "Hiruko!" she gasped, falling to the floor. "I think it's time," she added in a whisper, her eyes wide with worry. She was at her most vulnerable, and Hayashi was nearby.
((OOC: maybe you could force Hayashi to help? Would be funny hehe))

<<OOC - LOL no, not yet, I've got plans for him ;D Hehe >>
Hiruko had never felt more panic-stricken in his whole life. It was time. And it couldn't have come around at a worse time. "I'm going to try and carry you..." Hiruko whispered to Mira though he was unsure how he would be able to stop Hayashi from attacking them now. He put his paws gently underneath her and lifted her into his arms.
"Koatia will have to wait," Hiruko said to Hayashi. "We have an emergency at hand." Hayashi growled slightly. "Koatia will NOT wait," he answered.
"HE WILL HAVE TO," Hiruko shouted in frustration and began running, not towards his den but to the tree of life. Even whilst carrying Mira, he could still run pretty fast and Mylar floated along beside them. Hiruko looked back however and Hayashi was following them.
"Leave us alone, Hayashi," Hiruko shouted back at him but Hayashi said nothing and continued to follow them. "How are you feeling, honey?"

Mira kept crying out in pain as her contractions worsened. "Hiruko," she said, panting. "It hurts!" Tersias had told her of the pain it would cause, but never thought it would be this bad. "GET THESE THINGS OUT OF ME!!"

"It's okay..." Hiruko said, his eyes filling with tears. He was so scared for her. There wasn't much he could do in the way of easing pain. As he ran, he could see the Tree of Life in the distance. Hayashi was still close behind them but he wasn't attacking.
What does he want? Hiruko thought. Then he saw another problem: Koatia. Koatia was following behind Hayashi and by the look on his brother's face, it had taken him by surprise too. "What are you doing, Koatia?" Hiruko heard him say. "I can handle this."
"Well, I couldn't leave it all up to you," Koatia replied with a jagged smile. Koatia wasn't holding back with his speed like Hayashi was though. He was going in for the kill. The Tree of Life was so close but each step closer took a lifetime for Hiruko. Koatia leapt in an attempt to catch him and Mira off their feet.

Mira, angry that Koatia wanted to destroy her family, yelled at the top of her lungs. It was a yell of both pain and effort, as the creation of the giant icicle had coincided with a contraction. She directed the icicle at Koatia.

Kiryu was strolling through the grassy plains in an attempt to find some supper. He had just taken down a deer, when in the distance he heard a familiar voice. "Hiruko," Kiryu muttered, before heading off to the sound of the ruckas. With blistering speed he sprinted towards the voices, picking out at least two others. In the distance he could see a silhouette of what looked like two Hirukos.
Kiryu moved even faster, noticing that one looked a little larger, and Hiruko was carrying someone the fox had never met. He darted forward before leaping into the air and landed in between Hiruko and Mira, and Koatia and Hayashi.
"Go Now!" Kiryu yelled at Hiruko, worrying that the other may be injured, Kiryu lifted his wing into the air trying to cover as much of the others as he could. Smiling he looked over at the other two, "I don't know who you are," his grin widening "but I'll be more than happy to oblige in teaching you a lesson about manners." Preparing his battle stance Kiryu glared at Hayashi, "You have one chance to turn back, I advise you take it."

Soaring high over the plains Oan was enjoying the fresh air and the feel of the wind on his face. He was returning home after a hunt and was tired and longing for rest.
Looking ahead he saw a collection of creatures gathering. One he could see was Hiruko, who was carrying another creature. One was a small creature difficult for even his eyes to keep track of; the other had silver fur and was standing in front of the others. Oan could see two more strangers heading towards them one with immense speed the other was similar in appearance to Hiruko only larger. Hiruko had been the only person that Oan had met since arriving on Tialka and it looked like he was in trouble.
Oan dived faster then he ever had before and low too the ground he soared to a halt next to the silver furred stranger.
‘Hello there’ He said, the situation looked bad.
Turning to the silver furred creature separating Hiruko and the others from the fast approaching strangers, Oan smiled his scar giving it a crooked appearance.
‘My name is Oan Skyhawk, anything I can do to help?’ The anticipation of a fight stirring inside him.

Koatia got caught up in the icicle and froze instantly. With the arrival of Kiryu, Hayashi stopped. He had never seen such a creature before. Hiruko and Mylar along with Mira had their chance to get to the tree.
"Move aside, small one," Hayashi said in a low tone. When Kiryu covered a wing in front of them, Hayashi glanced back at the frozen Koatia. He wouldn't be frozen for much longer.
"Fine." He then leapt over Kiryu with an enormous jump and landed a short distance away from him. Meanwhile, Hiruko was inches away from the tree when Hayashi was catching up to them.
Please Hiruko begged inside his mind. For Mira and the cubs... Just in time, he got inside the invisible barrier where no evil could pass. Since Hayashi had some blackness in his heart, he could not cross and stopped dead centimetres away from the barrier once they were inside. He didn't even test the barrier.
Oan had appeared as they were safely inside the barrier. Although he could fly, Hiruko didn't want to take any chances. "Oan!" he called to the bird. "Quick! Get to this tree!"
"Are you okay Mira?" Hiruko said turning to Mira and panicking still. The initial threat was gone...for now but there were still cubs to be born. "Is it time?"

As they passed through the barrier surrounding Lacina Lake, a bit of the pain lifted, and her cries were reduced to whimpers. "Yeah," she said sarcastically. "Absolutely peachy." She wished Tersias were there, too - she alone knew about the pain Mira was currently going through. "Like I said earlier, GET THEM OUT OF ME!"

Oan stared at Hiruko, the battle that earned him his scar replaying in his mind.
'I don't hide behind trees Hiruko' Oan said defiantly. He turned his back on the group and stared down the two creatures, he began to beat his wings faster and faster kicking up a massive dust storm.

The dust storm made it difficult for Hayashi to see inside and became unaware of what was going on. He tried to go through the dust storm but instantly hit the barrier that stopped him from entering. Suddenly, there was a massive CRACK and when Hayashi looked behind him, Koatia had half broken free. "Hayashi, use your strength, hold them back, NOW!" Koatia shouted to him.
Hayashi stood there, not moving, only thinking. "What are you doing?! Break through that barrier!"
"No," Hayashi said quietly. He then turned to where the tree of life was and where the rest of them were. "You guys, Koatia's not going to be frozen for much longer. I will try to hold him back when he does break free."
Hiruko heard his brother's shouts. He almost had to repeat the words within his mind. Had Hayashi changed? Or was this some sort of trick? Either way, they could only wait and find out. "I think you're going to have to push Mira," Mylar suggested. There wasn't much more she could do but get the cubs out.

Post by Seirei Hisakata on Jan 25, 2012 19:02:32 GMT -1
By now the sun had begun to set and the sky gradually darkened as Seirei was circling the sky, acting as look-out around the forest in case anything got any evil ideas of threatening his family. Every night he enjoyed watching the stars come out one by one against the dark blue, perhaps adding a few more every now and then with a swift flick of his tail. The view was always intense from this high up. With his keen eyes, Seirei could even see as far as the desert in the horizon. As his eyes swept the landscape that was bathed half in darkness, half in moonlight, Seirei spotted the Tree of Life, everything from it's branches to the surrounding river glowing in a gold light.
The tree always had a soft glow about it, even when no danger was near but ... Seirei paused in mid-air, keeping level with regular beats of his wings. The tree was positively exploding with light, bright enough to illuminate the clouds above. Something isn't right here, he thought. With a great spurt of speed, he forced his way through the air as fast as he could, cutting through the resistance like a missile. I only hope I'm not too late, he thought, panicking, as he caught sight of moving silhouttes around the bass of the great trunk the closer he came towards the tree.

Mira, now completely oblivious to everything else, did as Hiruko asked. Slowly, and oh-so-painfully, the two cubs were born. She cuddled them close to her, out of breath, and groomed them.
