Kiba sat by the lake, the full moon reflecting in the water. He was thinking of older times and his past. He had been doing that alot. He skipped a few rocks on the surface of the water, the ripples breaking the clear reflections of the darkened woods.

Seirei had been walking through the forest for about an hour now, he couldn't sleep. He wasn't really paying any attention to where he was going, and soon found himself entering the clearing where the lake shone in the moonlight, the stars twinkling on the surface as if a piece of the sky had fallen on the ground.
He noticed the shadow of Kiba sitting close by, and went to keep him company. He had a look on his face that reminded him of all the times he sat by himself, pondering on the past.
"Hey, Kiba. What you doing out here so late?"

Kiba looked up to his friend. "I can never sleep when there is a full moon. So I often sit and think of times passed. Whether they are good or bad. Would you like to join me?" He asked, not minding the company.

Seirei nodded with a slight smile. "The moon often digs out our worst memories, I guess it's in our blood." He cocked his head to one side and smiled again, but it didn't seem to come out right.
"I don't think i've ever really told you about my past have I, Kiba?"

"No, though you did seem to get angry when I told you that I passed through you home world..." He smiled back at him.

Seirei chuckled, staring vaguely into the water. "I guess it's a subject that i've alway tried to avoid, but our bond of friendship has grown so tight these past weeks, I feel as if I can trust you with my past."
He settled himself into a more comfortable position.
"Well, as you may have figured out, I was not originally from this world. You already know that I left my world a long time ago, and that I have travelled a great distance, searching for a second home. This place...it is the first place since then that I have ever truly felt at home. Hiruko welcomed me with open arms."

"But I suppose the true question is why you left, isn't it?" He asked, skipping another stone across the surface. "I do feel glad that you think that our relationship has grown to that point. Though some of our past isn't meant to ever be spoken of again. Such as how I got this." He pushed apart his thick fur on his chest to show a long jagged scar. He bowed his head. "Some things are better left forgotten."

Seirei chuckled again, but there was little warmth to be felt. He looked at Kiba's scar briefly and then looked back at the water. "Indeed, some things should be forgotten..."
A few minutes passed, and all that could be heard was the gentle movement of the water against the earth. He cleared his throat and continued.
"Why I left. . .it has haunted me every night. You remember the night you had to wake me from my nightmares? Well...that night they all came out at once, I couldn't handle that much pain in one go...it felt like I was a prisoner in my own memories..."
He shook his head a little, but continued, "All I ever told you was that I was a member of my clan. What I didn't tell you was that I am actually a prince, well one of two princes. Both of us heirs to the head of the clan. My brother, older than me, of course was to take it first, but he was...to put it simply...evil. He was a menace, all he seeked was destruction, so he was banished from our clan, and therefore I was the rightful heir."

Kiba sat back and listened. His thick fur once more concealing the scar. The air seemed heavy around them as he spoke. "And let me guess, something happened that ruined your princehood?" Kiba asked. It seemed logical that his brother was the evil ruler back there, but it was only a theory until Seirei confirmed it. "So what happened?"

"Well...a few years after my brother, Kurai, was cast out of our clan, my father, our great leader was growing old. Kurai must have heard about this, because he returned to claim what was rightfully his. Of course, he was the eldest...but he wasn't part of our family anymore, even my father had said that Kurai was dead to him. Yet Kurai didn't back down...The night he returned, I was sitting by my father, he had turned ill and was fighting his death. And Kurai came in and...and..."
Seirei lowered his head quickly, his teeth clenched together so hard you could hear them grinding. A tear trickled down his muzzle, but he pushed himself to go on.
"...He killed him." he said quietly, bitterly. "At that time I was too weak to fight him off. I was just "the young prince", not strong enough to save his own father..."

Kiba put a paw on Seirei's back trying to comfort him. He too had many bad memories such as that. "It's ok Seirei. If you want you can continue or I can tell you about my past as you compose yourself."

Seirei was grateful for his friend's presence and understanding. It wasn't easy, telling another of your worst nightmares.
"Thanks, Kiba. Sure, tell me about you, I've always been curious."

"I was born about sixteen human years ago in a small town on a different world. We were peaceful but we still trained as warriors. More of a fate thing, both me and my twin are gifted with a power that is extremely rare amoung our ranks, so we were taken in as soldiers of a higher rank than those who had been in for years before us. We learned and we fought, mostly with eachother, the others couldn't keep up. It was then right after our birthday celebration, an unknown intruding force decimated our little village. Both me and my big sister, Shiro fought hard and killed many of them, but every time we killed one there were three to take it's place. In the end that's what killed us, their overwhelming numbers. My mother and father were killed right in front of us. I still remember holding my mother's still body, crying out for her." Tears started falling from his eyes. "I was only six back then, just turned. I fled with Shiro and hid until they left. She had gone crazy. She wanted revenge. I couldn't let her, so I had to tie her up so she wouldn't kill herself. We stayed out of sight for three weeks while they searched for survivors. We were not found though life was tough then. We survived on small wildlife some streamwater and hope."

Seirei listened with wide eyes as Kiba spoke of the horrors of war he had to experience so young, yet he was the same age as he had been when he started training.
"You and your sister would make quite a team if she wasn't intent on revenge. I'm glad she has changed, well for now at any rate."
"I, too, had experience of war. As soon as my brother killed my father I wasnted revenge also. My brother fled our village, no doubt to gather wolves on his side to take what he thought was his. I was so young, I had no experience of fighting. My father's old friend trained me in the ways of our clan, and I also trained myself at night, determined not to let my brother take what I was now ready to have."

"Hey, I'm not quite done yet." Kiba said. "But I do understand what it was like. Though do you mind if I finish my story? I kinda feel like I have to finish it."

Seirei smiled a little, "I'm sorry, now that i've started, it feels like it all has to rush out, it's like a weight off my chest. But of course I will listen, please go on."

"Thank you. It's how I feel as well. Now, after they had left we returned to the village. My mother and father as well as everyone I once knew and cared about hung from nooses, their flesh cut from their bodies. I had to leave almost immediatly, but I grabbed my sister's and my own katana's and fled to another world after we buried them. She left, wanting to find those and kill them all. I didn't follow, instead I wandered about trying to help anyone I saw. So I was alone for the longest time. I grew on the road, from the child to what I am today. I was cold to anybody I didn't know, though I quickly grew out of that. I found this planet after a while and started living here. That is the begining of my life anything after before here, would have to be another story." He skipped another rock across the surface of the lake, the moon had moved lower since he had last looked at it. "So now, back to your story."

Seirei had listened to the rest of Kiba's story carefully. They were so alike, both left to travel on their own, forced to find a better home.
"I hope you are happier here than in your past life." he said kindly. "We won't let anything as cruel as that happen here, I promise you."
He paused for a moment, trying to think of how to carry on his story. He took a deep breath, and started talking again, "Months passed. I trained as hard as I could, making myself stronger, into the leader I should be. I started gathering followers in my clan, many automatically gave their allegiance to me, some were a little harder to persuade. There were still a few out there who believed that Kurai was the chosen one. So of course, he gathered soldiers for his side, too. After two years of fighting I finally managed to overthrow Kurai. His followers dispanded, afraid of being punished by the clan, and I forced Kurai to go into hiding, never to return again. For a long time, we lived in peace, able to rebuild what was lost in the war, but he returned again..."
Seirei growled, baring his teeth angrily.
"...Not with more soldiers, but with lies. He claimed that it had been me who had murdered my father, not him. I tried to persuade everyone that his claim was false, but it was too late. He had already spread the lie throughout the entire clan and beyond. No one believed me anymore, and I heard rumours that people were threatening to kill me in my sleep for what "I had done". I had no choice...I had to leave..."
