The sun was setting on Coral Bay, the curved beach being lazily washed up and down by the rising tide. The sun cast a red hue over the surroundings, turning the sea a strange purple. Suddenly, from no where, a dark and shaggy silhouette fell out of the sky and plummeted straight into the ocean with a splash. Almost an hour passed, until the black creature was gradually washed upon the shore, gasping for air, trying to clear its lungs of the sea water.
The creature was a large, black wolf, yet it's body was far from its prime. It was skinny, gaunt and lank, it's limbs starved of muscle, its face skeletal. With great effort, the wolf pulled himself further up the beach. Once he had cleared himself of the water, he collapsed with a great sigh into the sand, passing out.

Mira was wandering Tialka, her two cubs in a sling that nestled by her chest so that she could roam freely. "And this is Coral Bay," she said to her two children, who probably didn't care according to the playful squeaks coming from the sling.
Looking around, Mira stared as a canine pulled themselves up the beach from the water. Concerned, Mira made her way towards it, wanting to help, but he had passed out before she'd even reached him.
Looking over him, she paused to summon the water away from him and his fur. Some water leaked out of his mouth from where it had been in his lungs before it all collected in the air in front of her. She sent the water back to the ocean.
In a separate compartment in her sling, Mira had a few morsels of food which she'd been saving for herself, but she figured that the wolf would need it more than her. Sitting down nearby, she let her children play in the sand while she waited for him to wake.

A short time passed since Mira's arrival, and the wolf slowly began to regain consciousness, sensing as well as smelling the presence of other animals, though what they were he was unsure. A searing pain suddenly shot through his head and he jolted up, spluttering, his eyes bloodshot. Panting, he looked around himself at the scenery. At last ... I am here ...
He caught sight of a leopard and what must be her young close by. Could my brother truly live here? Kurai had never really encountered any other creatures other than his own kind, but he had seen illustrations as a young wolf. Limping slightly, he slowly made his way towards them and spoke to Mira, 'I - I think I'm lost, can you help me young lady?' He would have to lie low for a while, for all he knew, this leopard was in alliance with Seirei.

Mira smiled as she watched the wolf approach, glad he'd regained consciousness. "Of course I can, but I think that you should rest a while." She gestured to his leg, the souce of his limping. "You must be hungry, too, you look famished." Mira gazed at him with concern, looking over his gaunt body.
"Oh, here I go waffling on," she said with another smile. "My name's Mira, and you're in Tialka." She paused for a moment to bring her children back from wandering too far away. "May I ask who you are?"

'Starving, actually!' He actually was; he couldn't remember the last time he ate something decent. He sat down on the warm sand, letting it soothe his bad leg. Darn it, must have nicked it on something in the ocean, he thought angrily. Once he was comfortable, he smiled (with great effort) a kind smile at Mira.
'My name is Kur- Kai.' he quickly corrected himself. 'Everyone calls me Kai.' He watched the two little cubs play around their mother, salivating slightly. 'Those two cuties yours? They look delightful.'

She reached into her sling and gave the wolf - Kai - some of the meat she'd been carrying. "Take this," she said. "You need it more then me." Mira smiled. "Hmm," she said thoughtfully. "A friend of mine has a son called Kai." She gave a small laugh.
Mira looked at her cubs. "Yes, they're mine. A boy and a girl. Their eyes have only just opened, so I've been taking them around Tialka to see their home."

Kurai froze. How foolish he was to use his father's name, but it was the first thing that came into his head. And if there was another with that name in this world, then there was no doubt who the father would be. Seirei had always been close to their father, so no wonder he used that name too.
Kurai quickly gave a small laugh, 'What a coincidence! Small world and all that! Oh, thanks.' He gratefully gulped down the morsels of meat the leopard had provided for him. The sky grew darker as the sun began to disappear behind the horizon. He would have to wait until morning to start his examination of the area, he was exhausted and needed to rest. 'I don't suppose you live nearby... What was the name again? Oh yes ... Mira?'

She gave a small frown. "I'm afraid not," Mira said, "besides, there's not really enough room for visitors with my husband's brother staying. Sorry," she added, looking apologetic. "There are a few areas around here that could work as a temporary shelter, though. You could stay there the night and I could help with finding a more permanent place to stay. And if you're in pain still, I have some things at home that can cure you."

Surprised by Mira's disappearance from the den, Hiruko followed her trail past the grassy plains and towards the coast. The cubs were gone and although he understood that she could have been taking them for a bit of a walk in the fresh air, he was still concerned for the well-being of his mate and cubs. He tracked her scent all the way to Coral Bay where he found her speaking to a large, black and rather skinny looking wolf. This wolf was nothing like Seirei nor Koatia as both of them had a bit of muscle in their frames. This wolf looked as if it could do with a few pounds of meat.
"Is...everything okay here?" he asked curiously. He turned to Mira and whispered in her ear, "New arrival I presume?"

Mira smiled at Hiruko. "Yes, he pulled himself out of the water a while ago, but he seems better now," she whispered back. She turned to Kai. "This is my husband, Hiruko. Hiruko, this is Kai."

Kurai was surpised to see another species of animal just randomly appear. This world is so different from my own, where various creatures live together, he thought to himself. 'Pleased to meet you, Hiruko,' he said politely, bowing his head a little. The tiger didn't seem as instantly trusting to Kurai as the leopard had been, he would have to watch himself with this one, its sharp eyes didn't look like they could be fooled easily.
He looked around himself in search for a good temporary shelter, and noticed several small caves that had been formed from the sea's erosion against the cliffs of the bay. 'Perhaps one of those would do for now?' he suggested, gesturing towards them with a paw. 'I can easily catch a fish or two I suppose.' Just go with the flow, Kurai, they'll be out of your way by dawn ...

Surprised by Kurai's quickness to retreat to a new home, Hiruko nodded. He could choose a spot since he had come to Tialka and didn't appear threatening despite an unusual instinct that warned him of Kurai's presence. He would keep an eye on him as he did with all newcomers.
"Feel free to find a place of your own," he said in a welcoming tone. "Would you like us to show you around for a bit? There are more places than here and the cliffs."

Kurai wasn't in the mood for tours. His mind was set on one goal, and until that was completed he would not stray from it. A chance to gain knowledge of his surroundings in unfamiliar territory would be beneficial in the long run, but Kurai could not risk running into Seirei. He would have to do everything possible to avoid that occurring too soon, his plan relied on it. At the same time, however, he was aware that an ally amongst strangers would be an advantage if he truly wanted to take down his brother effectively. The two felines seemed friendly enough, but he doubted whether their wills were weak enough to be persuaded into dark deeds.
'Tomorrow perhaps?' Kurai yawned widely. 'My leg's still throbbing and wouldn't be up to much walking. Plus, it's too dark to admire your home in all its glory,' he smiled. 'The cave will be fine for tonight, and then we can explore in the morning!' Eugh, these manners are killing me. How one can be this happy all the time is lost on me...
With another smile, he turned away from Hiruko and Mira, and walked to the end of the bay, where the cliffs curved round to cut off the beach. It was here that the water gathered and lapped against the cave entrances. He started to inspect each one.

Tersias was taking a walk along the dusky shore. Her nerves were still a little shaken from her latest vision, so the cubs had stayed at home with their father. Soon she reached Mira, Hiruko and the cubs. "Hello friends" she smiled "How are you all this evening?"

"That's fine," he replied to Kai. "I understand you've only just got here." Though he couldn't help but overlook his dismissiveness. Something about him just doesn't fit Hiruko thought. I will keep a watchful eye on him.
There was a noise of light footsteps and Hiruko turned around to see Tersias smiling at them all. She didn't look too well but Hiruko assumed she hadn't had much sleep over the issue with Kiryu. "Hello Tersias, nice to see you again," he said returning the smile. "We were just introducing Kai to our land." He looked towards the dark wolf who didn't appear very welcoming back at the time. In fact, he looked as if he wanted to leave. You must give every creature a chance, Hiruko he thought. Their presence isn't coincidental and sometimes it is better to let events unfold.

((OOC - Chebs, everyone thinks Kurai's name is Kai for the moment. It's a cover so Seirei doesn't find out about his being in Tialka))
Kurai looked over his shoulder when he heard voices in the distance. Another animal had joined the little group, quite a petite fox, delicate and frail looking to him. Finally, a creature similar to myself. he thought. Maybe we could find some common ground ... or if not, maybe a relation ... Kurai thought these dark thoughts to himself as he eventually chose the cave he would spend the night in. It was a little higher above the beach than the others, and was therefore dryer and warmer. After spending many years in the wastelands of his home world, he had gained an instinctive awareness of the environment around him, being able to adapt quickly to the climate. He had to if he wanted to survive.
Not wanting to appear too brooding by himself, Kurai decided to return to the group, in an attempt to leave a more positive impression.
'All sorted!' he said, smiling happily. 'I think I'll be alright for the night. Hello? Who's this?' he looked down at little Tersias.

<<OOC - soz I kinda forgot >> As Kai returned, there was an odd look in his eye when he saw Tersias arrive. Hiruko didn't think much of it however as he had returned which kind of suggested he was willing to socialise and be friendly. "This is Tersias," Hiruko explained. "She has been a permanent member to our tribe for quite some time now." Hoping Kai would fit in, there was something about him that made him familiar. It was just a feeling but Hiruko couldn't help but wonder what the weird sense was instinctively telling him. We shall learn in time Hiruko thought.

She raised an eyebrow "Kai? My son's name is Kai. And here I was thinking we'd picked such original names for the cubs!" she chuckled, "It's very nice to meet you, Kai. I think you'll like it here. I came to Tialka as a cub and I can wholeheartedly say I've never met a nicer gathering of folk in all my travels." She smiled at the newcomer, but couldn't help thinking there was something odd about his manner.
