The cool, damp mud stuck to the bottom of Koatia's huge paws as he made his way out of the cave that was his lair. He had been hiding here for quite some time now, gaining his true power and it was a fitting place for him. The Darkthorn Jungle was an important find for Koatia: it was far enough out of the way that the Tialkians would not find him easily. It was situated in the most southern part of Isel Falls' jungle. The jungle itself was thick with brambles, choking vines and sickly twisted plants of all shapes and sizes. The area was in a very tropical zone so it was often rainy and thunderstorms were frequent, making the area very swampy. The thunderstorms were useful for Koatia since he could harness the electrical charge of the incredible storms to use for his own power. Now that he could truly unleash his weapon upon the Tialkians, he was now certain that Tialka would fall, along with many other worlds to come. Koatia stopped and raised his head to the sky. Taking a whiff of air, he knew this was the right time. The clouds were charcoal black and the humidity was rising. It was the perfect setting. A thunderstorm approached. The Kumorishi now had a new home placed in his metal collar wrapped around his thick neck. He could use its power now to unleash its ultimate weapon... The storm intensified, lightning was flashing all around him with roaring thundering following. Koatia howled long and deep and the Kumorishi responded by pulsating with dark energy. The dark energy spread to the ground and for a moment all was calm...before movement beneath the wet soil erupted and limbs of shadow and flesh emerged in a birth of pure darkness. *** Nothing seemed right, the land grew even darker than before. Then Hiruko heard it: a long, deep howl that sent a chill up his spine causing the fur on his back to raise. No, Hiruko thought. This was it, the darkness had been unleashed upon Tialka. Hiruko was already running through the jungle of Isel Falls with Mylar flying by his side. They were following the location of the dark clouds that had spread over a vast but specific area of the land. Please, Hiruko prayed in his mind. Please don't do this now. We are so happy with our friends and family. Don't ruin this. It's my fault...my past with Koatia led him to change the destiny of my friends as well as my own...

Ji-Ji the monkey was huddled up shivering against the sudden storm that had blown in from the north, down to the jungle south of Isel Falls. His huge, bulbous eyes were wide with fear at every flash of lightening and every rumble of thunder. His bright-orange fur was flattened against his tiny body as the rain continued to pour down.
He did not know how he had got to this terrible place. One minute he was lying in one of his favourite banana trees, having a light snack, the next he had woken up on the ground with unfamiliar foliage around him.
This is not Ji-Ji's forest, the little monkey thought to himself sadly as his little fingers clung onto the trunk of the tree he had climbed to find shelter. Another flash of lightning made Ji-Ji jump and his little mouth widened as the light flashed a momentary silhouette of a creature larger than himself, running in his direction. Ji-Ji squeaked loudly and shut his eyes, thinking that if he could not see the monster, it would not see him.

As the rain pelted down and caught Hiruko in the eyes, his vision was blurred but still fairly sharp. There was a short yelp above them which Hiruko thought little of since many animals lived here but Mylar had stopped and was calling Hiruko over.
As much as Hiruko respected Mylar, he felt that this was no time for being inquisitive as Mylar appeared to be. He was looking up into the branches of a tree at something that had possibly made the squeaking noise earlier. "What is it?" Hiruko asked walking towards Mylar.
"Look," Mylar pointed at the frightened monkey in the tree. "This one is not native to this land." Sure enough, Hiruko looked into the branches and saw a ball of shaking orange fur upon the branches.
"It must be a new arrival," he said, agreeing with Mylar. "And at such an unfortunate time too." Hiruko had a responsibility to welcome all new arrivals to Tialka since it was the world he and his friends had created but introducing a new arrival at such a frightening time couldn't have been worse for the poor creature. It's first impression of what was my once peaceful world will be of fear and horror, and that's even if we do manage to stop Koatia... he thought miserably. Shaking this thought, he quickly turned his attention back to the petrified monkey. "Hey there little one," Hiruko said reassuringly, "I know it seems frightening right now but I promise you'll be safe, there is no need to be afraid." He couldn't be more wrong right now but if Mylar could lead him away from the danger that was fast approaching, he would be safe.

Ji-Ji's big watery eyes opened at the sound of a voice speaking to him from the jungle floor, and he was surprised to find someone that was so kind in the midst of this terrifying place. He took a peek below him and saw two creatures that were unfamiliar to him. All he had ever known were monkeys and birds, small creatures like himself. Deciding that they weren't going to eat him, Ji-Ji wrapped his long tail around the branch he was seated upon and swung upside down, so that he was looking straight down at the two of them.
"Ji-Ji doesn't know where he is," the little monkey squeaked. "What is this place? Who are you?" He still did not feel confident enough to meet them at ground level but he was sure that they would help him. All the creatures back home were always so helpful whenever he had been lost. "Can you help Ji-Ji get home?"

Hiruko was confused at first when the monkey spoke of 'Ji-Ji'. He couldn't see anyone else around that could be referred to as Ji-Ji. "When you talk of Ji-Ji, are you talking about yourself?" Hiruko asked politely. He had never heard anyone refer to themselves in third person before.
"It's okay Ji-Ji," Mylar spoke slow and softly, apparently assuming this was the monkey's name. "You are on Tialka. It's a very peaceful place but this area can be quite dangerous. I can lead you to a safer place if you follow me." Hiruko felt bad because Ji-Ji must have been frightened but he really needed to stop whatever events were taking place within the jungle. He was torn between them.
"Where did you come from Ji-Ji?" Hiruko asked. The danger would have to wait. "Where is your home?"

Ji-Ji gazed in wonder at the smaller of the two creatures. It was floating, like a bird, but he could not see any wings. This Tialka place must be a strange and magical place, he thought to himself. Curiousity getting the better of him, Ji-Ji sprightly bounced down from his tree to where he landed on the jungle floor in front of Hiruko and Mylar. Now that he was closer, Ji-Ji was not as frightened, even though he barely came up to Hiruko's hips. They seemed eager to help him at least.
"Of course Ji-Ji is talking about himself. Who else would Ji-Ji be talking about?" he said, with a little smile to Hiruko. He was distracted again for a few seconds as he watched Mylar's tail dangle above him from where he was floating, tempted to play with it, but then Mylarand Hiruko's questions forced him to break his daydreaming. "Tialka? Ji-Ji has never heard of this place. This jungle is very scary compared to Ji-ji's home." The little monkey suddenly felt very sad and homesick as he thought about it. "Ji-Ji does not know how he got here. Ji-Ji was just enjoying a nice breakfast and then the next thing Ji-Ji knew, he was on his back in this dark, dark jungle."

"Hmmm that is a little strange that you were brought here against your will when you fit so well in your own home..." Hiruko said puzzled. "Either way, you are here now and we need to retreat back to the forest where it's saf-...er, I mean, more homely."
"Follow us Ji-Ji," Mylar said waving his tail to encourage Ji-Ji to follow. They ran back to the forest but slowly enough so that they knew Ji-Ji could follow. Once they got back to the forest, Hiruko regretted leaving the danger behind them but there was little that they could do. They were now sitting by the crystal clear lake staring into the water. It was very calm and serene to make Ji-Ji feel more relaxed.
"Well since you are here, perhaps we should tell you more about our world," Hiruko suggested. "I am one of the founders of this world, along with Mira and Seirei. You will most likely meet them soon. Many others have made residence here, some, like you, did not come here out of choice."

Carlotta watched the animals from the top of a nearby hill. She consulted her map and took out a quill. The tiger had come from the east, meaning that the forest expanded into a land mass. So if she expanded her map to the east... At that moment her quill fell from her hand and through the foliage, landing at the monkey's feet. "Aw man" she shook her head.

A little out of breath from running such a long distance from the jungle north to the forest lake, Ji-ji sat down and dipped his long tail into the lake to cool down. Compared to the dark and thorny jungle in which he had first arrived, this forest was less wild, and Ji-Ji felt more at ease. Listening to Hiruko explain the Tialkan world, Ji-Ji's curiousity grew and grew. He missed his home terribly, but after hearing about all the animals he was likely to meet, the temptation to explore made him feel like a little excited child inside his chest.
Maybe if Ji-Ji were to talk to these other creatures on this world, maybe Ji-Ji can find out how they got here, and how to get home. But for now it wouldn't hurt to have a teensy explore ..., he said inwardly, with a smile. Suddenly, the little monkey jumped as a heavy feather of some sort landed directly in front of him. Ji-Ji picked it up, sniffed at it, and then raised an eyebrow at Hiruko and Mylar.
"Do feathers often fall out of the sky in Tialka?"

The sudden feather dropping from the sky made Hiruko jump. "Not normally, perhaps it belongs to one of the four phoenixes," Hiruko suggested. However, on closer inspection, it belong to none of them and even smelled unfamiliar.
Hiruko froze and straightened up, staring around into the trees with a glare. He wasn't as forgiving to surprises after the events just passed and now had to be more alert. "I sense one who is unfamiliar to our tribe on Tialka," Hiruko shouted in no specific direction. "I demand you show yourself!"

"Cock-a-doodle-do!" Crowed Carlotta, swinging down from the hilltop on a trailing vine. Landing, she did a forward roll and sprang to her feet, bowing to the monkey and the tiger. She replaced her hat - a green one with a feather - and smiled. "Apologies, I appear to have dropped my quill. I'm on a great adventure, you see, so must always keep a map" she grinned, and unfurled the map she had been working on.

Ji-Ji jumped when the very loud and energetic ocelot crashed through the trees and landed in the clearing. He thought the stranger had great luck in managing to avoid landing in the lake; after all, he wouldn't want a possible new friend to drown before he could say hello. There was something about the ocelot's energy and enthusiasm for adventure which made Ji-Ji excited. He wondered if this stranger would let him join her on her adventures, they seemed to be around the same age too, which was even better.
Ji-Ji picked up the feather, or rather quill as it was apparently called, and passed it to the unknown ocelot, eager to appear helpful. "Here is your quill-feather, erm ... miss ..." Ji-Ji doesn't know her name, oh bother! He cleared his throat and started again, "Ji-Ji found your quill-feather and now Ji-Ji can be your friend?" He smiled in a friendly way. Typical for a little monkey of his age, he had been so distracted he had forgotten Hiruko and Mylar standing only a few feet away.

"Ah, forgive my rudeness! I got caught up in the thrill of my adventures! My name is Carlotta Ramirez, Ji-ji" she smiled. "I hope we shall be great friends, Ji-ji. So what is your adventure, Ji-ji?" Her face lit up at the thought of adventures. "Are you battling pirates? Ninjas? An army of evil flying ants?" Carlotta looked around excitedly, searching the nearby canopy for enemies. "Or are you battling growing up, like me?" She beamed, looking up at Ji-ji.

((OOC - Carlotta reminds me of Peter Pan lols))
Ji-Ji smiled a big beaming smile. He knew he and Carlotta were going to get on more than fine. Ji-Ji's going to have many many adventures with Carlotta, he thought happily. Whatever these pirates and ninjas are, Ji-Ji's sure they are very exciting!
"Ji-Ji doesn't know how he got here in Tialka, and must find his way home, but first Ji-Ji wants to explore! Ji-Ji's never left his forest before." Then the little monkey had a thought and looked back around at Hiruko and Mylar who were still standing and floating close by. He was sure he would be alright today if Carlotta was with him, then Hiruko and Mylar would be free to go back to what they were doing, if they so wished. "Thank you for helping Ji-Ji earlier," he said earnestly. "Ji-Ji might have been lost forever if you hadn't come along!"

Carlotta's eyes widened at the thought of Ji-ji having entered a whole new world by accident. "Wow, that is an adventure!" she sighed, wondering if Ji-ji had somehow done it by magic or some other supernatural means. Realising she had not really acknowledged the other parties present, Carlotta wheeled around somewhat suddenly to face the whole group more fully. "You aren't pirates, are you? Ninjas? Who sent you?" she asked Hiruko and Mylar suspiciously.
