Hiruko awoke to a beautiful scene: his mate, Mira, her soft, fluffy, silver fur scattered with beautiful leopard spots all the way to her face where there was a teardrop shape between her eyes. Her beautiful icy blue eyes remained hidden under sleepy eyelids and a tuft of silvery hair pertruding down her face. Her thick tail was wrapped snuggly around the two newborn cubs, one was a golden leopard, the spots not fully developed yet and the other was a white stripy tiger. He had high hopes for them both, particularly the female who had shown them her talent for healing after saving the male's life just seconds after they were born. She had obviously inherited the healing powers from both her father and mother, combining in a powerful healing ability. As for the male cub, they would have to wait for his abilities to blossom.
The male cub awoke with a start by squeaking in a high pitched squeal that broke the peaceful silence. Worried, Hiruko picked the small cub up and held him close to his chest, cuddling him fairly tight. His squeaking lessened slightly but he was still making small whining noises through Hiruko's fur.

The squeaking brought Mira from her slumber, and she opened her eyes. She blinked a few times to clear the bleariness. She smiled when she saw Hiruko holding their son. "Morning," she said quietly, but her voice still woke up their daughter, who squeaked gently. Mira nuzzled her carefully, and the cub shuffled closer.

Noticing the shuffling beside him, he turned around to see Mira smiling groggily at him. "Morning to you too," he said whilst holding the male cub. Both the cubs' eyes were still tightly shut despite being awake as it would take them a few days for them to open their eyes. "Looks like this one here is hogging the attention." The golden leopard whined softly and Hiruko put him back down next to his mother. "Perhaps he's hungry," he suggested. "We need to think up names for them as well, I hate having to refer to them as 'him' and 'her'." <<OOC - True for real life too >>

((OOC: You do realise we'd agreed on this ages ago? Lena and Lios )) Mira brought their son closer to feed him alongside his sister. "I have a couple of ideas, how about you?" she asked, watching them and feeling proud. A smile formed on her muzzle and she looked up at her husband.

<<OOC - yeah I know but we need to get our characters to actually name them so they don't have the default 'male cub female cub' xD>>
"I'm intrigued at your ideas, please tell me," he said in a charming tone. It was so beautiful watching his children bond with their mother. Of course, his bond with his children would be a lot different but special all the same. Despite the fact that the golden leopard cub was a sickly baby yesterday, he was now squirming more than ever and was becoming increasingly feisty.

Mira looked down at their cubs. "Lena, for our girl," she said, "and Lios for our boy." She gave the golden cub a gentle and affectionate lick, glad that he'd recovered from the scare yesterday. "What do you think?" she asked Hiruko, looking back up at him.

Hiruko smiled and looked at the cubs with their new names: Lena and Lios. They were perfect. "An interesting choice," he said. "Lena and Lios..." He was mostly saying it aloud to bond the names firmly in his mind. Life couldn't be more perfect with Mira and his children. He wanted to be the best father he could be as did his own father.
"They slept well at least," he said to her, smiling. "Not a peep all night. Lios only started to make some noise this morning." He chuckled slightly under his breath hearing his son's name out loud and thinking how it was already a concrete name for him.

"I would've woken if they'd tried to squirm away or make too much noise," replied Mira. "I'm glad they were quiet - it's exhausting giving birth mid-fight," she joked with a smile. The cubs finished feeding and snuggled up to Mira, mewing quietly as they pawed at her soft fur. Lena attempted to climb onto Mira's back, but failed each time. In the end, Mira laughed and placed her daughter there, where Lena sat happily.

"I bet," Hiruko said. Mira must have been so exhausted last night. At least everything was calm and peaceful now. Watching Lena climb onto Mira's back was adorable. Lios on the other hand was squirming around in her mother's fur finding a comfortable position. Since their eyes were still fused shut, he was relying on his other senses to find a warm, comfy spot. He finally settled down before releasing a small burp from feeding.
Hiruko stretched and sat up. "Do you want anything for breakfast?" he asked Mira who was now eating for herself whilst also feeding for two so she needed her strength.
