Seirei and Hiruko had eventually made their way, tired, to the grassy plains to recover their strength after the exciting event of finding Mylar back at the crystal cavern below the stone table. Seirei's stomach gargled overtly and he couldn't help but laugh at how hungry he was.
He wondered what would be easiest to hunt. The sun could be seen peeking over the horizon as dawn arrived, radiating a soft yellow glow through the morning sky. It was one of the perfect times for hunting. The smaller animals would be drowsy and hungry after spending the chilly night underground, but Seirei, being the size he was, needed some bigger game. Perhaps a small deer or gazelle would do. Hiruko was fast, he'd be able to outrun anything, and Seirei always had the element of surprise from above.
The two friends sat behind a particularly thick bush that concealed them from view to plan how they were to catch their breakfast: 'So how about it?' Seirei whispered, 'Feeling up for a big catch? Or if you're tired we could always trap a badger or rabbit each or something if you like. Or both if you're starving!' He chuckled softly.

Behind the bush Hiruko and Seirei both whispered to each other softly so that they wouldn't scare off the prey. "Whatever we can find," Hiruko replied. "I'm pretty hungry myself. And any leftovers can be stored away." He peered out of the bush where the dim light lit the ground. There was nothing moving outside but there would be shortly. Hiruko quietly stretched his leg muscles ready for the run. There was nothing worse than coming back after a hunt with sore muscles.

Seirei seemed pleased with Hiruko's indifference, 'Big breakfast it is then!' he whispered enthusiastically. He slowly made his way out from behind the bush and quickly flattened his body to the ground as low as he could, his wings tucked away to give him a slimmer bodyline. Partially concealed by the tall grass of the plain, Seirei began creeping forwards into the open, his eyes fixed on the horizon in the distance for a sign. A long time passed as he waited and was about to call to Hiruko to vote for a change of location, but - THERE! His sharp yellow eyes suddenly caught on a small group of antelope in the distance, their silhouettes clear against the orange sky of sunrise. They only needed one, but being quick, even one was tricky to hunt down. Seirei peered over his shoulder at Hiruko, and give a quick flick of his tail to signal that this was it.

Seeing Seirei's signal, Hiruko decided that this was his opportunity to change into his wild form as it was easier to hunt on four limbs than two. He bent down so that his arms and legs were on the floor and relaxed. Suddenly, the quick transformation began as his bones and muscles began to snap and twist into his hunting form. It was over in a flash: Hiruko had become a large wild tiger. He crouched low and followed to where Seirei was laying. The antelope were grazing in the distance and he knew that a in a short sprint, it would be a good catch. Hiruko crouched closer and closer, he needed to be as close as possible so that the sprint didn't last too long otherwise he would not succeed. Once he had gotten close enough to the prey, he judged his targets, looking for a weak link. There was one antelope with an injured leg as it was limping slightly. His whiskers twitched. His shoulders shuddered. Hiruko had the adrenaline rushing through his body. He locked his eyes onto the antelope and sprinted at full speed towards it.

Synchronised with Hiruko's spring into action, Seirei kicked off the ground and sped like a bullet vertically into the sky. Looking below him he saw the streaking blur of Hiruko dashing through the grass, who seemed to be aiming for the weakest of the prey. Rising further still Seirei kept up with Hiruko in the clouds, keeping inconspicuous. As soon as Hiruko was half a dozen feet away Seirei dived straight down at the group of antelope, trying to separate their chosen food from the rest of them. Startled by this random wolf hurtling down at them they fled. The injured one also tried to flee but Seirei stretched open his wing as a wall. 'Now Hiruko!' He yelled

Their tactics combined, the injured antelope had been separated from the rest of the herd. This was his chance: Hiruko leaped at it and used his powerful paws to latch onto the hind of the animal. It bucked and thrashed against him but the injured leg couldn't give it the power it needed to wriggle Hiruko off. He went for the throat and took the antelope down, holding it until its eyes closed.

Their prey now caught, Seirei waited patiently as Hiruko swiftly dealt with the writhing animal on the ground. When he was certain that the antelope had gone onto the next world, he cleanly cut the carcus into two with his large talon-like claws. One half for Hiruko and Mira, the other for himself and his family.
'This should be a good enough meal to last us the day' he smiled contently. In a way he always felt a twinge of guilt after a hunt, but if they were to survive, they needed meat to keep up their strength. Seirei decided he would take his share of the food home to skin it and prepare it with his mate, so rolled it under his paw as he spoke to Hiruko.
'I wonder how little Mylar's getting on with Mira. I hope he isn't too much of a handful, his energy seems immortal' he laughed.

Hiruko took up his share gratefully and then shifted back to his normal, Torakan form.
"They've both been asleep a lot of the time," Hiruko said, answering Seirei's comment. "How are the cubs? I must come to see them some time."

((OOC - sorry, whenever Hiruko changes form I make a transformers noise xD))
'Oh the cubs are fine. They're getting bigger and bigger by the day I swear. I'm gonna have to dig an extension on the den soon!'
Talking about home gave Seirei a twinge in his stomach when he suddenly realised that he'd been gone for over a day. 'Oh no.. Tersias is going to be worried sick! I'm never going to hear the end of this... Sorry to cut our hunt short my friend but I'd better go back to check on them.' And with that he clutched the meat in his big jaw, kicked off the ground and soared away into the distance, towards the forest.
