"I think that you weren't thinking at the momment. You were over confident in your abilities and that led to what happened. But many people have done the same, myself included, so no. You are not a fool." He looked down at his friend. "I will have to teach everyone here first aid for cases like this, when I cannot get there."

Seirei felt sincerely grateful for having Kiba as a close friend. He had helped him with so many things.
He laughed loudly. "Yh, you can't be here all the time to patch me up, eh?"
Then I can truly look out for Tersias myself

"Or everybody in Tialka either." He smiled. The water had started to receede, it was a few inches lower, exposing a foot of fresh sand. "Would you like to start learning? It is not like we are going anywhere for a while."

"Sure." Seirei made himself more comfortable, ready to listen.

"Well, we should probably start with minor injuries and basic first aid. First of all you need to know about pressure dressing. It is any cloth or material tied to a wound fairly tightly to prevent bleeding. Let me show you here." He pulled out a cloth and wrapped it around Seirei's paw tightly, but not too tightly. He showed him how to tie it and how to add a second one if necisarry. "After this, if it continues to bleed you would add a torniquet. Only to the arms or legs, as it cuts off blood flow."

Seirei watched attentively as Kiba easily tied the bandage to his paw.
"Might be a bit harder for me, you don't stand on all fours" he smiled at Kiba. "I think i'd have to use my teeth to pull the knot tight. Could I have a piece to try?"

"Sure, practice makes perfect after all." He handed him a cloth and held out his paw so Seirei could practice. "Remember to tie a square knot. Like a regular knot, but it is right over left for the first and left over right for the second. It won't slip that way."

Seirei took the bandage in his right paw and firstly folded it loosely around Kiba's wrist. Then, whilst holding it still with the same paw, he tied the knot in the way Kiba had advised with his teeth, making sure he did not pull it too tight. He sat back to look it what he had done. It was tricky to do it with his teeth, but he thought he did quite a decent job.
"How did I do?"

"A little tight, but it is really good, better to be tight than loose, the blood woun't get stopped that way." He smiled. "Now this would cover most scratches and cuts, even across the chest and head. A torniquet is the next choice if two Pressure bandages do not stop it. You take a cloth and a stick tie it similar to what you did for the pressure bandage, but you tie it loosely and add the stick under the knot. You then turn it until the bloodflow stops and tie the stick to prevent it from unttwisting."

The time passed quickly as Kiba taught and Seirei repeated, until he felt very confident in his new abilities. His mood was boosted with success from learning quickly and the fact that he no longer felt pain along his back. He breathed a sigh of relief.
"I'm on the mend finally." he grinned to himself.
He felt stiff from sitting still for too long. With stronger legs he stood even quicker than the last time. He wouldn't push his body too much for the first couple of days, but he was amazed at the pace of his recovery. It must have been the strength of his clan's blood.
He looked out of the door and saw that the sea had receded even further down the beach. It couldn't really be called a beach at the moment, the once white sand was a muddy silt.
He stepped down none the less, glad to get out of the house. It was hard to believe such an innocent place could be capable of such destruction.

Mira yawned, awakening. She'd been sleeping for several hours, unaware of the world around her. She had been very tired after using a lot of energy helping Seirei, as well as using a long dormant teleporting power. She noticed that Tersias was curled up next to her, and that the storm had finished. Mira stood up carefully, so as not to wake the fox, and stretched, realising Seirei and Kiba were also nearby. She wandered over to them. "Seirei, I'm glad to see you're up," she smiled. "How are you feeling?"

Seirei heard movement close to him and noticed Mira standing by him.
"Hey Mira." he smiled. "Much better thank you, a little limited, I don't think i'll be flying for a while," he gestured to the scars that were still bright scarlet with the soreness. "But I'm recovering quickly."
He looked behind Mira, expecting to see Tersias, but she was obviously still asleep.
"Tersias hasn't woken up once yet..." he frowned. "The night must've sucked out her energy."

"It is the fever. She isn't as strong as you are, she is still sick, though she shouldn't be for very long, maybe another day or so."

"I hope her health recovers quickly, I believe it will be her birthday soon," she replied. "She wouldn't want to miss that." She shook away any water droplets that might have been hiding in her fur, making sure she didn't get any of her friends wet.

"It should be long gone by then. Taken care of, her fever should be gone in an hour and her sickness in a day."

"Well that's good," she said. "But I will keep an eye on her, just in case. Things like this often try and get in the way."

"The devil is in the details, a saying where I come from. I agree. What do you think we should do after they get better?"

"Perhaps we could take her to the Crystal Caves on her birthday to find her crystal? It would be like an iniciation ceremony and coming of age at the same time."
