Mira followed Tersias to the treehouse and made note of her advice. "You're welcome," she said at her thanks, and gave her a small smile before making her way to the stairs.
Mira cleared her throat before calling out. "Tersias, it's Mira. Your sister asked me over, I'm just coming up the stairs now, if that's okay." She put an expectant paw on the first step, but waited for a response.

Nat extinguished the fire and followed Seema to the treehouse where Mira was to depart.
"Ready as I'll ever be," Nat answered. She stretched herself briefly, wanting to ensure that the fight wouldn't harm her muscles in any way.
"Lead the way," she ordered when she was done. Her military training was returning to her, and she vaguely remembered giving orders to the Privates. Her mind also went back to Red, but she couldn't afford to think of him now.

Seema nodded, watching Mira enter the treehouse. "As far as weaknesses go, watch out for his legs. He's had some pretty nasty injuries in one leg, and while it's patched up not too bad I'd bet my house that it's a weak spot." She thought warning Nat about Kurai on the way was advisable.
"He's bigger than any of us, but you and I will make four of us, so all we can do is hope that that's enough. Before we go in though, there's one thing I want to try." she said softly, recalling a distant memory.
I can gift you magic, and then it will be your magic...
If ever Koatia's gift would be valuable, this was the time. Looking at a nearby dying shrub, she focused all her energy and anger and determination, chanelling it towards her palm and willing it to manifest itself.
The result was somewhat unexpected. A pink ball of light came shooting from her fist. Watching, she anticipated the bush to be burnt and shrivelled. But the reality couldn't have been more different. The bush was in fact thriving, its dying leaves somehow restored to greenness. "Ok, good to know that's what that does. Let's go" she said to Nat, indicating the door to the den.

"Come on up. The door is locked just now, but I will open it when you are ready to join us" Tersias called down.
She looked down at her kids, squeezing them all in an embrace. She had to try her best not to let her concern for Seirei show, or they would worry too. Having her dearest friend here at this time would be a comfort. Hopefully her arrival meant that Seema had found help.

Mira breathed a sigh and made her way up the stairs. When she reached the door at the top, she knocked on it gently. "Gosh, those stairs are tiring," she commented. The steps were odd for a feline her size, but she supposed that for a small fox like Seema, it was just fine. Besides, the spiralling didn't exactly help, and Mira felt a tiny bit dizzy.

"Are you alone?" Tersias asked Mira, now standing directly behind the door, preparing to unbolt it. You couldn't be too careful - she had only heard one set of steps on the stair, but she had to check to be certain.
"Mum, when's dad going to get here?" Kai asked quietly, looking up at Tersias.

"I'm alone," Mira confirmed, though she did glance behind her just to make sure. "Are you alright?" she asked. She may need my help. But, she doesn't sound in pain... Chances are, she's just a bit shaken. I'm sure I'll be able to keep her calm until this whole thing ends.

"I'm so glad you're here" she whimpered, undoing the bolt and throwing open the door, ushering Mira into the room before locking the door once again.
She threw her arms around Mira, giving her a tight embrace and whispering in her ear "I don't know what to tell them... they're asking for their dad... I'm so scared, Mira." Tersias was shaking.
Ebony watched quietly, "I'm not sure Mum knows when dad will get here, Kai" she said solemnly.

Mira hugged Tersias back tightly, rubbing a paw down her spine in an attempt to comfort her. "Don't worry," Mira soothed. "We'll get through this." She broke the embrace and gave Tersias a smile. "It'll be fine, I promise." Please, Uncia, don't make me a liar, she prayed desperately. Mira turned to the cubs. "Hello," she said warmly. "You certainly have grown since I last saw you," she stated, the surprise on her face genuine.

Tersias smiled. "Thank you. There was actually something I wanted to ask you, Mira, and now seems as good a time as any." she sat down among the pups.
"You kids are getting bigger and it's time you started learning things that will help you as adults in Tialka. So I'm going to ask some of the Tialkans to take you under their wing and teach you new skills. And Mira, I was wondering if you could teach Arty a little bit about the tracking and surveillance work you've been doing."
Arty looked up eagerly, "Me? You want me to learn how to track stuff?" he grinned, it was unusual for Arty to be picked over his siblings for something.

Mira smiled. "I would gladly offer to teach Arty," she said. She looked over at the smallest cub, who was staring at his mother with surprise and happiness. "I will teach you all I know," she told him, bringing his attention to her. "I don't know how long it will take, but I expect you to be diligent." Mira sounded stern, but she gave him another smile to know she wasn't being too much so.

"Fabulous" Tersias smiled, looking at the pups. "Ebony, I am going to ask Kiba to teach you the magic he tried to teach me when I arrived in Tialka. There is a pendant in the den which he can teach you to use. Kai, Sai, your father will continue to teach you to hunt and fight. And Aislin, I intend to ask your aunt Seema to teach you about healing and medicine."
The pups all smiled - they were to become a real part of Tialka.

Mira's smile widened as she saw the cubs' faces burst into happiness. Then the sound of Mira's rumbling stomach filled the air. "Oops," she blushed. "Sorry, Tersias. It's just, I haven't had lunch today. Do you think your sister has anything I could possibly have to eat? I'll replace what I take, of course."

Tersias laughed, "Of course. There's a pantry just off of Seema's bedroom, go into the main room and it's on your left." she said softly, unbolting the door to allow Mira go find food. "If you see anything we can all share then feel free to bring it through, I believe Kira left a basket of bread and cheese and fruit in there yesterday." she smiled.
When she unbolted the door, however, there was a slight problem. Kai and Sai, who had been whispering between themselves for a minute or two, both darted out of the unlocked door and down the stairs.
"Kai! Sai!" she squeaked, following them towards the staircases. "What do I do, Mira?" she asked anxiously.

Mira gasped as the two of them shot past her, but she collected herself quickly. Turning to Tersias, she said, "It'll be okay. Go after them, I'll stay here with the other cubs." She looked at Ebony, Aislin and Arty. "You three, stay by my side," she said sternly, her expression showing that she meant it. "You are not to leave it until your mother returns, understand?"

"Thank you" she nodded to Mira gratefully. "There's food in the pantry, could you feed them? I'll be back as soon as I can, babies" she said to her three remaining cubs, kissing their foreheads.
She took a deep breath, trying to get control of her emotions before acting. After a few seconds she was back in focus and turned and ran from the house, calling the names of the runaway pups.
