His smiled faded, replaced with a rage within his heart. How dare Kai hurt her! He looked over at Seema, the sparkle of moonlight within her eyes. Suddenly his anger melted away, it was not the path he would follow. Not anymore he vowed, what mattered most is making sure it would be an evening she would never forget.
"Of course" he didn't have to force the accompanying smile, she brought it out from within him. "I'll be here, waiting for you... if you come here, you'll find me" he gazed deeply into her eyes. "I promise" he pulled Seema towards him, curling his wing around them. He would be close by, adamant in his resolve.

She smiled warmly, nobody had ever really been there for her - there hadn't really been anybody who could have even if they wanted to. "I appreciate that, Kiryu, thank you" she was speaking in little more than a whisper, but somehow she knew that it was all that was necessary.
There was something very special about that moment - the moonlight beaming down, the reflection of the stars in the lake, the soft breeze. There was something unusually soft in Seema's expression as well - she was normally quite stern, almost cold, but there was a light in her eyes and a breeziness in how she carried herself.
She looked up at Kiryu's face, their eyes meeting as that by-now familiar blush returned to her cheeks. "Why do you bother, though? When I live so far away and all..."

He looked upward, his gaze drifting across the lake. A wide toothy grin split his lips, "It's nothing, I assure you." Seema had helped him regain something he had lost long ago, his humanity. Yet she was far more than that to him, he held her close. "You mean a lot to me" he whispered softly into her ear, a flash of red growing within his cheeks.

Seema's heart fluttered and she was lost for words. An enormous smile lit up her face from ear to ear and she buried her head in the fur on the side of Kiryu's neck.
Does this mean... It has to mean he feels it too. Doesn't it? A tingle was running down her spine, and a spark of excitement had lit a fire in the back of her eyes. "Kiryu..." she whispered, looking up into his eyes and struggling to find the words for what she wanted to ask. "Does this mean you have... feelings... for me? Romantic feelings, i mean?" she was stammering a little, her face was flushed and her heart was pounding. She had taken a risk now, and she was shaking a little. The adrenaline rush she had used to pick up the guts to ask was fading fast, and the fear was setting in.

"Do you really think I'd be here with you if I didn't?" He coyly played her own words back at her. "C'mere I got a surprise for you!" Kiryu led her over to the basket he had given her earlier. It had been knocked over in the ruckus, some of the fruit had rolled off and lay in the beach ahead. He carefully put a napkin on the beach, unpacking the food, as not to spoil it.
He then opened a false bottom within the bag, inside lay two wooden flasks. The ornate flasks were intricately detailed showcasing 2 foxes. They stood together on each flask, the tattered wing on one fox was prominently wrapped around the other highlighted by a scarf with the carving of a forest framing them both.
"Remember I said I was making the juice for someone, last time we were together, you mentioned you lacked the time to prepare some" he smiled at her, "whilst I am no connoisseur, I put the best tasting two within these flasks." He handed her a flask, "I am sorry that you had to help make your own present, I wasn't expecting you today." He shook his head apologetically, "I was exceedingly glad that you decided to visit!"
"I'd like you to keep these, as a memento" he said, staring into her eyes as they basked in the moonlight.

She took hold of the flask he was proffering and turned it over in her paws, admiring the intricacy of the carving and the smoothness of the wood.
"Kiryu, these are beautiful" she gasped, looking up at him with a smile. "I can't believe you would go to all this trouble, I just..." she placed the flask back into the basket safely, "Thank you" she smiled, hugging him tight. "But you really didn't need to, this must have been so much work!" she said with a little laugh.

Her warm embrace caught him offguard. In repsonce he wrapped his arms around her, squeezing her ever so slightly. "It was nothing" he said cooly, genuinely please that she appreciated the gift.
"Are you hungry, we could have a picnic on the beach" he laughed, "you did say you were in no rush to get home." It had been such a lovely evening and he truely wished it didn't have to end.

She smiled, "That's a lovely idea, but I'm not really hungry if I'm honest" she said ruefully. He was right that she was in no rush to be home, but food was the last thing on her mind right now - she had had a large meal before leaving the house and then munched on fruit throughout the day.
"But you're right, I'm in no rush to get home" she smiled, looking up at him. "We can definitely stay a bit longer, if you like?" there was a mischeivous little twinkle in her eye and a cheeky grin on her face.

"If you'd allow me one moment" his smile widening. He squeezed her tightly, before letting her drop from his embrace. "I will be back before you know it" he said, dropping her a quick wink. Without warning he sped across the beach, disappearing into the forest.
Scouring the forest floor, he carefully picked up any dry wood and tinder he could find. He found a couple of sharp stones, carefully carrying everything towards the beach. The whole ordeal had taken just over 5 minutes, Seema lay on the beach ahead of him.
"I apologize for the delay" he said remorsefully, dropping his collection onto the beach. He dug his paws into the sand, throwing it out behind him. When he had dug a suitable hole, he added the wood and tinder, before striking the stones. Sparks flew from the rock, igniting the tinder, sending flames into the sky. The flames continued their dancing, the building inferno raving and engulfing everything within it's path.

"It's ok, honestly" she said sweetly, watching the flames climb, licking at the sky as if they wanted to touch the stars themselves. There was something very relaxing about watching an open fire.
Seema looked up at Kiryu, "aren't you going to come and sit down then?" she asked with a grin, the reflection of the flames dancing in her eyes.

Kiryu dropped down, sand spraying gently from under him. He took a quick breath, blasting a wave of air towards a stray lock of hair that had drifted down from behind his ears.
He stared at the fire, the flames embellishing his fur a deep orange. He pulled Seema close to him, watching the ashes leap into the sky. The warm glow enveloped their bodies, as they huddled out by the lake shore.
Exhausted Kiryu let out a small yawn, his jaws gaping wide as he deftly maneuvered his wing, covering his muzzle. He looked over at Seema, replacing his open mouth with a bright smile.

Seema giggled a little at Kiryu's yawn. "You're clearly very sleepy, Kiryu, and I should probably get back to Kai, see how he's coping." She looked exhausted just at the thought of dealing with Kai, but there was very little she could do but face the situation.
"Thank you for a lovely day" she smiled, nuzzling up to him a little. She stood up and picked up the basket Kiryu had given her. "I can find my way home from here so I won't hold you up any longer. Thank you for everything." She turned and left, heading for home.
