"Maybe one day, Seema," smiled Mira, and turned to Tersias. "Pretty much, yeah. It's how me, Seirei and Hiruko found ours. And how Kiba found his."

Tersias suddenly gasped, "Oh, I've found it" she whispered, enchanted. The crystal was very large, about the size of Tersias' own head. "But it's trapped..." the crystal was encased in the icy ceiling of the cavern. "I know how to get it out, but... I don't like messing with fire" she shuddered, gently taking the necklace Kiba had helped her make in her paw. "I don't think this is such a good idea" seema said quietly to Mira "I don't like this stuff Kiba's been teaching her, especially not the fire"

Seirei had remembered that today was the day that everything was going to change for Tersias, and that it was the day that she was going to find her crystal, and be formally part of the Tialkan Tribe. Since the accident at the beach, he had not been able to fly long distances, so he had set out on foot a day early, gradually making his way to the Crystal Caves that decided destinies.
The weather was freezing cold and icy, snow trying to push him over the side with a powerful force. However he was able to push his way to the entrance of Mira's cave, as his body was strong, and nothing could knock him over easily.
He made his way to a familiar spot in the wall and entered the scret passage way that led to the caves. After a few minutes of walking down zig zagging passage ways, he came into the main chamber of the caves, where the walls were lined with thousands of crystals. He spotted a group of four down a slope, and went to join them.
"Happy Birthday Tersias" he smiled, licking the top of her nose. He, too, looked up at where Tersias' crystal was. "It's up to you how you retrieve it, feed off your strengths and what you have learned."

Tersias sat down to think, her head nuzzling into Seirei's side. The obvious solution would be to use fire, but she didn't have nearly enough control yet, she could very easily hurt someone, and that wasn't an idea she liked. The only other solutions were complicated and lengthy, and would drain a lot of her strength and energy, but she couldn't risk hurting anyone. Concentrating very hard, she pulled some of the earth from under her feet, using it to shape a small clay bucket, which seemed reasonably sturdy. It wouldn't stand up to much use, but it should do its job. "I hope this works" she muttered. Seema watched with interest "What on earth is she doing? A bucket isn't going to get her crystal down..."

"Remember, Seema, this is my domain, I'll make sure she won't get hurt." Mira told Seema."Also, if she is to be worthy of finding the crystal, she must make up her own way of retrieving it." She turned to the newcomer. "Hello Seirei. Glad to see you've come to join us."

Seirei watched Tersias mould something out of the earth. He smiled, curious about what she was thinking of doing. He smiled at Seema, "Don't worry, she's got something planned in her head"
He grinned at Mira. "Hey, Mira. Today's a big day, huh?"

"So you are Seirei?" Seema asked, looking at Seirei, they had not met properly yet. She looked at him critically, she was not sure she trusted anyone who claimed to fall in love with a kit, particularly if they were as powerful as Seirei. Tersias took a deep breath as she continued. A sweat broke out on her forehead as she conjured up a bubble of salt water, which she allowed to fall into her little clay bucket. She then used more earth to form a large step so she could reach the crystal. Panting heavily from her efforts, she got on the step with her little bucket, and began brushing the salt water onto the ice with her little paw.

"Yep," she replied to Seirei, watching Tersias intensely, finally working out her plan. She heard Seema's skeptical voice, but ignored it. Mira asked for a blanket of snow to cover the ground, to give Tersias a soft landing should she fall.

"Atta girl" Seirei smiled to himself.
He turned his head to Seema. He sensed that she didn't approve of him, and the way that she was protective of Tersias made him realise that she was Tersias' sister.
"You must be Seema." he smiled and bowed his head politely. "Yes, I'm Seirei." He lowered his voice so that only Seema could hear. "I know you do not approve of your sister and I, but I must reassure you that my love for your sister is genuine." He raised his head again to watch over Tersias. "And soon my birthday gift will prove all that..."

Seema sighed "Just because she is no longer a kit doesn't mean she isn't still vulnerable" she replied, her voice also lowered "And I can't help being a little sceptical Seirei, its so unlikely that any adult would have an interest in little Ters unless they were some kind of pervert, you must understand I simply want to make sure she is safe and protected" her tone was dismissive, and almost cold. Tersias was still panting heavily and there was a sheen of sweat across her forehead. Slowly, the ice steadily dripped as the salt water lowered its freezing point and allowed it to melt. Soon, she ran out of water in her little bucket. She stopped to sit down for a quick rest, then, screwing her eyes up, refilled it. She was feeling slightly dizzy now, this was a lot more than she had ever tried before. She got back up on the step and continued.

Mira walked a little more forward, and made sure to keep refilling Tersias' bucket with salt water, so that she wouldn't have to waste extra energy that she may need for getting the crystal. She hoped that Tersias wouldn't wear herself out, as it was only morning, and she had the rest of her birthday to go through. "Come on, come on," Mira urged quietly.

Seirei sighed. Why couldn't Seema see that their love was true? He continued watching Tersias, now slightly anxious as he saw that she was getting worn out with the hard work. He walked forwards to stand next to Mira, also chanting under his breath with words of hope. He didn't want her to fall down.

Breathing heavily, Tersias managed to thin the ice considerably. So much so, in fact, that she couldn't reach it any more. Discarding her little bucket, which was empty again anyway, she got down from the step, conjuring up more earth to make a second step on top of her first. Once it was in place, she suddenly felt very woozy, and blacked out for a moment, only waking up on the realisation that she was falling over. Catching herself with her front paws, she shook her head to wake herself up and climbed both steps, now scratching at the ice. Suddenly there was a loud scractching noise "Owch, thats a bit harder than the ice" Tersias chuckled to herself, pulling the large crystal out and climbing down. "man that was hard work" she sighed, suddenly dropping the crystals and collapsing into the snow with exhaustion. "Tersias!" seema rushed forward , then looked at Mira angrily "I told you it was too much for her! She's only twelve, for god's sake!"

Seirei dashed towards Tersias as she collapsed. "Mira, we need to get her back into your cave and by a fire - quickly!" Seirei was now exuding anxiety. He picked up Tersias' large crystal with his tail, and followed Mira down the passageway as she carried the motionless Tersias. He wished he could have carried her, but his back was still on the mend and she was getting heavier now.

"Do not blame me, it was not my fault," said Mira calmly. "It was her choice to make, and I allowed her to make it." Mira picked up the unconcious fox with her teeth, and carried her back to her cave, asking someone to take the crystal for her. Once back at her cave, she made a bed of snow, and rested Tersias on top of it. Conjuring up a bowl of ice, with fresh water inside, she poured a little on Tersias' muzzle to help her wake.

"Well you should have stopped her! You saw her nearly faint once, and yet you still allowed her to continue!" Seema sighed as she followed "The poor thing must be exhausted" She stood over Tersias. Tersias sneezed as the water went up her nose, and blinked a few times, before sitting up and sneezing another three or four times. "I hate water up my nose" she giggled.

"There's more water if you need it," said Mira. "But more importantly, are you feeling okay?" Her expression showed her concern.

Seirei was relieved that his little fighter had woken so quickly. "Well done" he smiled, as he placed her huge crystal next to her. "You showed your true strengths back there, even if you did push yourself a little too much." He went to sit beside her and nuzzled his head into her neck.
